The people in Japan are very kind. Also, it’s very safe and I can walk home late in the evening without fear. The infrastructure and technology make Japan a very convenient place to live too. On a personal level it’s a place where I feel more conscious of my health especially in terms of eating and fitness habits. Finally, away from my busy daily life and work, there are many nice attractions and events here that contribute to my social life.
日本の人々はとても親切です。また、とても安全で、夜遅くまで怖がらずに家に帰ることができます。インフラとテクノロジーは、日本は住むのにとても便利な場所です。個人的なレベルでは、特に食事やフィットネスの習慣の面で自分の健康をより意識していると感じる場所です。最後に、忙しい日常生活や仕事から離れて、ここには私の社会生活に貢献する多くの素敵なアトラクションやイベントがあります。

The culture of being mindful, respectful, and polite to other people. There is also a sense of cleanliness and order in Japan. People collaborate to make their environment clean and orderly. The thought of keeping things in order, preserving the environment, and reducing the labor of garbage collectors makes me want to help do things right.

Yes, I have visited Kyoto. It is the embodiment of Japanese culture ranging from food, architecture, quality handmade products, traditional Japanese fashion and maikos. I loved the nature, especially the bamboo forest called “fushimi inari.” The traditional Japanese architecture, which they have preserved in their shrines, is also very impressive. I was excited to meet the Maikos and took several photos with them.

The design is what attracts me the most, but it won’t be the main reason for purchasing a bag. It must also be durable and have functionality suited for my needs. It’s important for a bag to meet my needs so I can use it regularly, rather than keeping it in my closet unused for long periods of time.

Japan is very different to Australia and the diverse culture and regional differences appeal to me. Before living in Japan I went to Kyushu for a holiday and I noticed many differences between Nagasaki and Kumamoto even though they are close geographically. These kind of differences, from the local food to the landscapes are less noticeable in Australia.
日本はオーストラリアとは大きく異なり、多様な文化や地域の違いに魅力を感じています。日本に住む前に休暇で九州に行ったのですが、長崎と熊本は地理的に近いのに多くの違いに気づきました。地元の食べ物から風景まで、この種の違いはオーストラリアではあまり感じません。

The seasonal events and festivals in Japan are very interesting. You can have fun with friends under the cherry blossoms in spring or experience the excitement of summer festivals like the Kanto Festival in Akita prefecture.
日本の季節のイベントやお祭りはとても面白いです。春の桜の下で友達と楽しんだり、秋田県の関東まつりのような夏祭りの興奮を体験したりできます。
Q3. Have you ever been to Kyoto? What was your impression of Kyoto?

I went to Kyoto during autumn and the beautiful autumnal leaves at Kiyomizudera and Tofuku-ji really impressed me. Kyoto also has delicious food and sweets. I recommend the yudofu (boiled tofu) at Nanzenji Temple. It’s simple, yet delicious.
秋に京都に行ったのですが、清水寺や東福寺の美しい紅葉が印象的でした。京都には美味しい食べ物やお菓子もあります。南禅寺の湯豆腐がおすすめです。シンプルだけど美味しいです。
Q4. What places in Japan do you recommend?

I recommend Taketomi island in Okinawa for its traditional village atmosphere or the Goto Islands in Nagasaki for their unique historical significance. Also, to experience the charm of a traditional hot spring town during winter I recommend Ginzan Onsen in Yamagata. The sight of traditional Japanese inns (ryokan) under a blanket of snow at night is one of the most beautiful scenes you can see in Japan.

I often carry a bag or backpack to carry heavy items like a tablet or camera. So, I look for a combination of style, comfort, and durability. I look for bags that have enough compartments to hold all my everyday carry items and are comfortable to use all day.

I decided to live in Japan because I really like the beautiful culture, delicious food, gorgeous nature and the kindness of Japanese people.

I love attending festivals, learning different cooking techniques and engaging in Japanese customs.

I have only been to Kyoto once for half a day. Despite the short time there, I found the atmosphere to be more relaxing and peaceful than Tokyo.
京都には半日しか行ったことがありません。短い時間でしたが、東京よりもリラックスした平和な雰囲気でした。

Kyoto was beautiful, maybe a bit quiet for my style but definitely a good place to heal from all the stress of the big cities.

I first came to Japan in 2006, as I wanted to experience a very different culture to that of Australia. I fell in love with Japan very quickly after that! I ended up staying for a year, and then returned in 2010 and stayed for 12 years.
オーストラリアとは全く異なる文化を体験したかったので、初めて日本に来たのは2006年でした。 その後すぐに日本に恋をしました! 結局1年間滞在し、2010年に戻って12年間滞在しました。

I love the convenience, cleanliness, and general respect that Japanese people have towards each other.

I have been to Kyoto many times. I love going there! It’s such a change of pace to Tokyo and I love visiting all the shrines there.
